Project Description

Stephanie is a bilingual (Spanish/English) clinical psychology doctoral student broadly interested in examining mental health and addiction-related treatment disparities and barriers in Latinx and other BIPOC communities. Through the TRACC-RU fellowship, she is currently involved in research investigating the psychosocial needs of economically disenfranchised Latinos with opioid use disorder and co-occurring post-traumatic stress disorder, under the mentorship of Dr. Teresa López-Castro. Stephanie earned a BA in Psychology from Long Island University – Brooklyn. Prior to joining TRACC-RU, she helped study novel pharmacological treatments for opioid and cocaine use disorders at the New York State Psychiatric Institute under the supervision of Dr. Elias Dakwar, and previously, Stephanie examined system-justifying ideologies in the Politics, Race, & Ideology (PRIDE) lab under the tutelage of Dr. Benjamin A. Saunders.
