My name is Jean Fleuriscar and I am currently a student in The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education/CUNY School of Medicine. My pursuit of medicine stems from my fascination of the duality that the medical field provides. My curiosity persuades me to learn about the intricacies of the human body. Moreover, my desire to help others is attracted to the service and humanitarian aspect of being a physician. My interest in addiction research stems from a similar desire. The different facets of addiction and treatment are fascinating—and essential for understanding, and dealing with, the issue at hand. I also believe that research manifests as a service to humanity, and this motivates me even further. Currently, I am involved with the Substance Treatment and Research Service of Columbia University under the mentorship of Dr. Adam Bisaga—through TRACC—looking at various new and innovative ways approach addiction.
