Project Description

Jared Atchison joined TRACC in his third year at The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at The City College of New York. Under the mentoring of Dr. Jermaine Jones at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Jared engaged in research looking at association between the presence of a particular single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), which encodes the Mu opioid receptor (OPRM1), (the main target of opioid drugs like heroin, oxy morphine) and the severity of naloxone-precipitated withdrawal. Currently, Jared is finishing his training as an MD at the New York Medical College.
