Pam Segura

Pam Segura is a second-year MA student in the Psychology program at the New School for Social Research (NSSR). She is pursuing a Concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling at NSSR. Through TRACC-RU, Pam is working with mentor Dr. Lillian Polanco-Roman to understand why polysubstance use increases in later generations of Latinx and BIPOC immigrants in the United States. Pam is also completing a yearlong externship at Wholeview Wellness, a clinic that works with people who want to change their drug use. She hopes to honor the complex stories and humanity of her patients through collaborative, community-centered research. Before joining NSSR, Pam taught as a public high school teacher and community educator for 8 years in the Bronx, her hometown, and southwest Yonkers.
