Emmanuel Alvarez

Emmanuel (Manny) Alvarez joined TRACC in his second year as a Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His path to translational addiction research began at Rowan University, where examined subclinical psychopathology and neurobiology. He supplemented his experiences with competitive research programs at Rutgers University and the University of Pennsylvania, which further solidified his enthusiasm for addiction research. Now under the mentorship of Dr. Anna Konova at Rutgers University, Manny’s interest in addiction stands at the crossroads of neuroscience and psychology. Currently, his research explores neural correlates across maladaptive decision-making processes in opioid use disorder. While at TRACC-RU, he hopes to gain new insights on translating his research to wider audiences. Manny is grateful for the opportunity to learn new skills under his mentor and be a part of a strong research community at TRACC-RU.
