Dillon Murugesan

Dillon Murugesan joined TRACC as a third-year undergraduate at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, where he is a part of the 7-year B.S./M.D. program. While this is his experience doing addiction research in the neurobiology field, Dillon is interested in understanding how new treatments and strategies can be implemented in the clinical setting for those living with opioid addictions. Understanding how patients with opioid addictions manage their illness and steps that can be taken (both behaviorally and pharmacologically) to assist patients are concepts he is excited to explore under the mentorship of Dr. Jermaine Jones, a PhD researcher at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. He hopes that the invaluable skills he gains from TRACC will aid in his career as a future clinician when consulting patients struggling with addiction, and in implementing research as a professional practice.
